SKYVIEW RIDE
Saturday's ride to the Sky View drive-in in Belleville was fantabulous to say the least.
To sum up the ride... There were two spills, none serious. A few flats, quickly fixed. Numerous tall cans. A whole lot of friendly East Saint Louis residents. One big ass Cousin Cooter's Come Back Sammich from Big Mama's BBQ (best thing I've ever eaten in my life). One super pissed of cursing fellow who is apparently a horrible parent that hates bicycles. My first drive-in experience. A movie. Quite a few songs and songs turned into acronyms. A Metro Link car full of bikes and a singing Brian. And one hell of a time.
The 27 mile route was surprisingly easy and flat with the exception of one monstrous two part hill...but still nothing too treacherous, though there was a point once I reached the top of the hill that I was pretty sure I might throw up. Many thanks to Mr. Utz for his planning and efforts.
I unfortunately jumped off the Metro downtown so I could get my ever so patient dog outside to poo. The rest of the group made their way on to the CWE for continued funness.
Awesome.

TOUR DE DONUT

Saturday, July 12, 2008
The Tour de Donut bicycle race is a spoof of the "Tour de France". The "race" starts with a mass start and is led/paced to the boundary of Staunton IL by the Staunton Police. The route has varied slightly from year-to-year do to road conditions/construction and is over rolling terrain with two donut stops. Riders must stop at the two checkpoint stations (donut stops). Donut consumption is not mandatory, however, a five minute bonus is awarded for each donut consumed and recorded. After the race placement awards are presented for best Elapsed Time, Adjusted Time and Most Donuts Eaten. Door/Attendance prizes and a grand prize are also awarded.
EVERY RIDER MUST WEAR A HELMET FOR THE EVENT
ON-LINE REGISTRATION REQUIRED
NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION

RIDE A BIKE AND WATCH A MOVIE
This Saturday is the ride to Belleville to the drive-in... ride leaves Turtle Park at 5:00. Drive-in gates open at 7:00PM. First movies start at 9:00PM.
Movie choices this weekend:
Get Smart
The Strangers
Kung Fu Panda
The Incredible Hulk
Last night's Underwear Pool Party of Destiny was apparently the largest Fiasco yet, boasting numbers above 240. Good times. I am sleepy.

RECAP OF YE OL' END OF WEEK

Friday was Art Dimension's ArtD Tour Gallery walk.
Saturday, I worked on my classy belly sunburn pool side with free booze and food courtesy of my buddy's apartment complex. Apparently...the sun, its hot. Good times, minus the amount of feces that wanted to leave my body due to the excessive amount of free BBQ I consumed.
So I've got this bike right...I rode it. Sunday rode from downtown to Atomic Cowboy to meet up with home slice Mr. R, from there we ended up in the Central West End at some art fair that wasn't quite open yet, to Smoothie King in the Loop, to a bike shop that is no longer open off of Clayton, then off to REI on Brentwood, to a random ass park in the industrial court off of Hanley for a couple of warm brews and shade, to El Scorcho which was closed, so down the street to Schlafly Bottle Works for some bison and then back home downtown. Good times good times.
