SWEET...

If I rode with drop bars and I didn't have obnoxiously sweaty hands...I would really really want these.

I HATE CARS
Just got my Rabbit back from the shop. The poor bugger is missing its antenna and there is fresh damage to one of the rims. Fun times battling the shop and the insurance company.
LOST FINALE

Dumb. I don't want to type anymore on that...and shame on you writers, producers and whoever else had a say in this turd of a final episode.
STL TO ALTON
Saturday was a splediverous afternoon of riding. Mr. P and I rode our bicycles down the ol' Mississippi to Alton, IL for a few drinks and shrimp at Fast Eddies. Luckily Ms. J was kind enough to pick us up and haul our asses back to STL...cheap beer seems to drink down rather quickly. On the ride there I was smart enough to ride into a wall, so there's that. Good times indeed.

Design by committee, it’s got to be the cause. Why else would anyone make these? Okay...they might be kinda hilariously awesome.

BRIDGE BASH . 7TH & WASHINGTON
CREATIVE DESTRUCTION FRIDAY
Downtown's least-loved icon has a date with a wrecking ball...
WHAT: The four-story Washington Avenue Skybridge, linking the former St. Louis Centre mall and the former Dillard's department store, finally has a date with a wrecking ball, May 21st. It’s creative destruction worthy of a party, so the US Bank Bridge Bash will rock Washington Avenue as the obliteration begins.
The US Bank Bridge Bash, produced by the Downtown Community Improvement District and sponsored by US Bank and Emmis Radio, will feature live music by BIG MIKE AGUIRRE, catering by America’s Center, and a lot of broken glass. The event will be held from 4-7 pm, this Friday, May 21st. The wrecking ball will first strike the Skybridge at 5:10 pm and the hits will keep on coming as the party goes on.
WHERE: Washington Avenue, between 7th and 9th Streets.

LAST NIGHT'S RIDE

Ms. J, Mr. P and I thought it might be fun if we rode bikes together...we were right. Though, it did rain most of the night...as you can tell from Ms. J's bike mark on the concrete. And yes, that is Mr. P out on the Mississippi. The riverfront is flooded. Water is up to the Arch steps, there are a couple of flood gates closed which hindered our route only slightly. Good times were had by all.

IF I COULD SET FIRE TO A WEB BANNER I WOULD BURN THE PISS OUT OF THIS ONE...

I've accidentally rolled over the mother fucker no less than 17 times in the past couple of days when moving my mouse to check email, change a song or whatever else while I'm web browsing. This annoying web banner, it plays tracks off their new album upon doing so...great...except I have my headphones on listening to something else. I am now officially agitated, Black Keys...I'm sorry, I thought we had something going there...but you can blame your lack of one fan on your promotional agency that put out this bastard advertisement. Despite popular believe...internet users don't like it when you overtake something on their computer without them purposely initiating it.

On a side not...I am very much undecided as to whether or not I want lo-fi to die a horrible slow death or take over the world.
INAPPROPRIATE JAZZ HANDS

I can’t think of any situation that really calls for jazz hands. On the other hand, there are some situations where jazz hands are much more inappropriate then others.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

Went and saw this yesterday afternoon. I didn't read the book first...but I did have someone who read the book give me the short version of the story line. Worth a watch if you're looking for something...also, fair warning if you're against them...subtitles.
I think I might get the book despite seeing the movie already...anyone read it?

I LOVE THE SMELL OF A FRESH TATTOO
Got the outline done last night. Will be at least two more sittings I'm guessing...one to shade and color and one to touch up. Its giant and rad. Good work Mr. S.

CARDON COPY

Project by Cardon Webb (Cardon Copy) in New York. He finds cluttered, misguided, and often funny posters around the city, re-designs them to look better, which results in an overall more effective poster...would be super fun to do.

BEST EMAIL EVER...

Best email...well, second best email...was waiting in my inbox for me this morning. You'll hear plenty about it later, but know that in a year or so's time, things will be awesomely awesome.
LAST FRIDAY'S SUPER FUN FRIDAY ZOMBIE MOVIE NIGHT

Was indeed super fun. Had about 20 zombie movie lovers over the course of the night. The intent was to project outside on one of the exterior walls...which we did, but The Weather thought we should move the second movie inside to the empty parking garage...which we did, since the wind was relentless and the temperature dropped significantly. Scene of the night goes to a zombie fighting a shark underwater. Big thanks to Mr. D.
This will happen again.

THE KING OF KONG: A FISTFUL OF QUARTERS
Documentary I saw this weekend. Definitely worth watching.
"When Steve Wiebe got laid off, he turned to the classic arcade game Donkey Kong for solace; soon, he decided to challenge Billy Mitchell's long-standing record score. So began the bitter rivalry that lies at the heart of this curiously compelling documentary. Providing a history of competitive video gaming and a look at some of the key players, The King of Kong is at its best when revealing just how far Mitchell will go to retain his crown."

PARADISE LOST: THE CHILD MURDERS AT ROBIN HOOD HILLS
Good, disturbing documentary I watched the other night.
"Shedding light on the legal system - and on the media machine that often demonizes the accused - this gripping documentary follows the notorious West Memphis Three, a trio of boys arrested for the murders of three children found in a creek bed. Appearing on many critics' year-end Top 10 lists for 1996, this film from directors Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky also won the National Board of Review's prestigious prize for Best Documentary."

BICYCLES, BEER & A PRAYER STATION
Went for a short ride last night with Mr. P and Mr. J (again...too many f'n J's...change your names the all of yous). Started off as usual and all was, with the exception of the people out. We stopped at the Washington Post and loaded our bags up with a 12 pack, and I hadn't had dinner so I crammed a turd looking, blueberry something Clif Bar in my mouth to tide me over...before heading down to our usual abandoned rocks on the river to drink our freshly stocked beer.
After about fifteen or so minutes by the river, a couple of winos (actual winos, not me being smart ass here) showed up and sat no less than eight feet from us...eight feet despite the fact that there is a whole fucking river front with no people on it. They were fine and kept to themselves though, even as their buddy rolled up on a girls bike I'm pretty sure he stole. So we decided to move up to the pond in the park by the arch. And as we came up to the arch steps there were a shit pile of people listening to a man speak rubbish over a microphone...confused we read the sign "Prayer Station." We kept on our way.

I SHOULD BE MORE CAREFUL ANSWERING QUESTIONS

Talking to the folks at Enterprise this afternoon they asked me if I needed a big car for any reason, anything special, etc. I naively tell them, no, no whatever you've got is I'm sure more than fine. Okay Mr. Houvenagle what kind of car do you currently have that's going to be headed into the shop? Oh, yeah its a 08 VW Rabbit. Enterprise sir...very good, well you're all set we'll see you later this afternoon then.
There isn't a doubt in my mind that I'll be picking up a yellow Chevy Aveo.
